Kurt Schultz, MD is a general surgery resident at Yale New Haven Hospital, finishing the first year of his dedicated research time. Kurt is in the clinical research track of the Investigative Medicine Ph.D. program at Yale. Kurt and his mentor Dr. Cassius Iyad Ochoa Chaar are studying the effect of hydration on iliac vein stent size. Kurt was fortunate to receive the 2023 AVF-JOBST Clinical Research Grant to support his and Dr. Chaar's HYDRATION trial, which aims to establish a preoperative hydration protocol for patients with iliac vein compression syndrome.
